Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade at the top of a monumental staircase
The Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Piedade in the City of Tomar, Portugal, is located on the top of a hill and to get there on foot you have to climb a monumental staircase of 286 steps. This chapel was built in the 14th century (1512) but it was remodeled in the 17th century. While you are climbing you can also enjoy stunning panoramic views of Tomar. Later on, I will publish new pictures of this chapel, especially photos taken while I was climbing the staircase, from where you can also see the Castle of the Knights Templar, the Christ Convent and the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Conceição. These three photos of the chapel in the distance, were shot from Varzea Pequena, near Hotel dos Templarios.
