Last May I published three photos of Lameiras Farm (Quinta das Lameiras) near the City of Tomar, which were taken in 2010. Since in the past I have enjoyed pleasant moments in this rural area, which in turn yield great memories, I include another set of pictures of this place. It was here that my wife was born, grew up and helped her parents in the farm work. This farm has beautiful surroundings and even though it no longer grows much produce, it’s still a place very much treasured by my wife’s family.
This road at Lameiras Farm near the City of Tomar, is surrounded by pine trees, and many years ago, usually on weekends, I used to walk here by myself when I needed a quiet moment
This house across the field belongs to one of my wife's aunt, who has lived in this farm for most of her life

Even thought this area is not too far away from the City of Tomar and right next to the Aqueduct of Pegões, I believe it can still be considered a rural area. Though it isn’t visible on these photos, on my right is the 16th century aqueduct built at the time of the king Felipe of Portugal and Spain, and on my left is the road that leads to Tomar. Furthermore there are also a few plantations of olive trees in the area, which is a long agriculture tradition in Portugal.
There are lots of pine trees and some plantations of olive trees in this rural area close to the Aqueduct of Pegões in Tomar. By the way, the aqueduct by the way was on my right side
This road on the left leads to Tomar, which is about 6 Km away. There is a small green tourist train in Tomar that uses this road to bring visitors to the Aqueduct of Pegões
A different view of the same rural area close to Aqueduto dos Pegões, an engineering marvel of the 16th and 17th centuries, which was built near Tomar.
My sister in law Amélia Moura and and her husband Victor, live in a village called Junceira, which is about 8 Kilometres from the City of Tomar. This village belongs to the Council of Tomar and that’s the reason I’m including a set of photos of the rural area around their house. My wife, my son and I were invited to spend an afternoon in their place in Junceira and in the usual Portuguese tradition of welcoming visitors, we were treated like kings, which included a mid afternoon repast with home made wine and other traditional dishes.
This is what I saw, from my sister in law's house at the rural area of Junceira near the City of Tomar. Those houses in the distance belong to some of her neighbours
Another view from my sister in law rural house at Junceira. Apparently this land where this house in ruins lies, is for sale. Some people, especially from the United Kingdom have bough houses and land in this area
This is a house right next door my sister in law's house at Junceira. The views in the distance are quite beautiful and that's one of the reasons some people like to live in this rural area near Tomar
This rural area isn’t exactly close the City of Tomar, but it’s still in the county of Tomar, which in turn belongs to the district of Santarém. Thanks to my sister in law, Amélia Moura, this was the day where my wife, my son and I, went to visit Carril Dam. From there we all walked around the countryside, and for me personally I had to be careful not to fall to the ground, as in some areas, specially in an inclined rough surface like this, it was a bit slippery.
This day, my wife, my son, my sister in law and I, visited Carril Dam and walked around the countryside for a while. It was a very interesting day in that rough terrain
We were all coming down this hill near Carril Dam in the county of Tomar, to a valley near an old roman bridge where I took lots of photos
The progress of descending was a bit slow, at least for me. First I had to be careful not to fall down and second, I was constantly stopping as I was taking photos of the surrounding area
When I visited the Aqueduct of Pegões (Aqueduto dos Pegões) in the outskirts of Tomar, which was completed in 17th century to carry water to the Convent of Christ, I took the opportunity to walk around the area and shot a few pictures of the rural surroundings. These photos were taken close to the aqueduct and in the distance you can see a plantation of olive trees and a few countryside houses. Other than the olive trees, the area is also covered with pine trees.
When I shot this picture of the this rural area near Tomar, I was very close to Pegões Aqueduct, which a few centuries ago served as a conduit to carry water to the Convent of Christ
In the distance of this rural area near the City of Tomar, there is a plantation of olive trees, to produce olive oil. Right now Portugal is the 8th position in the world market of olive oil
Besides olive trees, there are lots of pine trees in this rural area near Pegões Aqueduct
These photos were shot at the end of the day at Lameiras farm (2010), which is about 20 kilometres away from the City of Tomar in Portugal. This is the place my wife was born as her parents were small farmers, and when we got married I used to visit this farm almost every weekend. I have to say that I have fantastic memories from this place. This is a farm that is no longer active but my mother in law still lives there. In its peak it used to produce all sorts of vegetables, fruit, wine, honey, bread, cheese and sausages. In the sausages area I remember how good the chouriços, farinheiras and morcelas tasted and the wine was just outstanding. My father in law, José Maria Moura, was a magician when it came to making wine.
View seen from the house of my parents in law at Lameiras farm, in Tomar, Portugal. At some distance you can see a row of pine trees.
Mandarin tree and pine trees behind. You can also see agricultural fields that aren't being used to its full potential, due to my father in law's death and my mother in law illness
Another perspective of Lameiras farm and fields that were mostly abandoned. Only my sister in law Matilde and her husband Acácio work the land, but just a tiny bit of it
