This is Rua Serpa Pinto again. I’m not just trying to show you this street known as Corredoura, but attempting to display the environment of the street in different days and situations. This time I’m showing a few vehicles in a street that is usually closed to traffic. There’s a vehicle near Torres Pinheiro Pharmacy for some kind of eyes tests on people. The second photo obviously belongs to the police. At the time I heard that the night before, there was an attempt to break into a shop. As a side-note, Tomar is very safe. You don’t hear much about crime there but occasionally it happens. The third vehicle is the green tourist train which is allowed to run there and park at the end of Corredoura.
This vehicle was parked close the Torres Pinheiro pharmacy at Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) in Tomar. Apparently it was doing some kind of eyes tests on people passing by. On a voluntary basis of course

The Tourist green train is allowed in Rua Serpa Pinto, despite the fact that traffic was closed years ago. It's a tourist attraction and it even parks at the end of Corredoura, near Praça da República
One of the problems with Corredoura (Rua Serpa Pinto) right now is that the main historical street in Tomar, is going through bad times. Not just this street of course but also the country, Europe and other parts of the world, due to the world financial crisis. It’s sad to see that a once thriving commercial street is now marked by shops closing down, which as a result attracts fewer people, as seen in the photos below. However I am an optimist and I believe that this is the perfect opportunity for people with initiative to revitalize Corredoura. Any ideas?
This is Rua Serpa Pinto in Tomar (Corredoura) without much people walking around, but the potential is there. This is an historical street and can be revitalized
Another shot of Corredoura in the City of Tomar, almost devoid of people. Time for the locals to find a good solution to attract more visitors to this once thriving street
Thought there is only one person walking down Rua Serpa Pinto in Tomar, there's great potential there. In any case, many tourists still enjoy this historical area of the town
These photos of Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) in Tomar are more the case of angles and where I took them from, than trying to show you how this street looks like. As most people know, angles in photography is based on the way and position a camera is positioned relative to the subject. The first photo was shot from the Old Bridge of Tomar, but the other two were taken from Corredoura, more or less in the same spot near Pastelaria Estrelas de Tomar. The difference is that I used different angles for the last two photos, hiding the Castle of Tomar in one of them.

A better view of Corredoura in the City of Tomar. I walked from the Old Bridge, crossed Rua Everard and a few metres further took this picture. That green cross signals that there's a pharmacy there
A different angle of Rua Serpa Pinto taken near Café Estrelas de Tomar. On the right you can even see some of the patrons sitting on tables outside the coffee shop
I had to publish another set of photos about Rua Serpa Pinto in the City of Tomar, and I thought that this habit of talking to your friends and acquaintances on the streets was interesting enough for this photoblog. The first photo is my wife and her sister Lurdes talking at the end of Corredoura, near the Church of São João Baptista. In the second photo a few friends are gathered in the middle of Rua Serpa Pinto, exchanging ideas about something and with the Castle of Tomar on the background. In the third photo you can see people going around a few others who are engaged in a conversation.

The Castle of Tomar seen from Corredoura (Rua Serpa Pinto) and a few people talking about something near a narrow street on the left, called Rua dos Moinhos
Here at Rua Serpa Pinto in Tomar, with the Castle of the Knights Templar in the distance, people are also engaged in conversation, probably about things that matter only to them
I know that several photos of Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) in the City of Tomar have already been published and by now you probably have a good feeling of what the street is all about, but I believe that each one of them shows a different angle of this street. Corredoura was once the place to be, where the best shops in town were located, and people who lived in one of those houses at Corredoura were very proud. They felt that they lived in a special area of Tomar. Rua Serpa Pinto is no longer the centre of commerce in Tomar, but historically it’s still the most important street in my home town.
In the past this street was the centre of Tomar. Centuries ago carts with horses were a normal feature in this street, then with the advent of cars, they took over, but now Corredoura is only used by pedestrians
At Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) in Tomar, cars can no longer use this street, which in my view was a great improvement to the City of Tomar
When heading to Praça da República in Tomar, the pedestrians at Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) are always facing the Castle of the Knights Templar
Though these photos were shot at Courredoura (Rua Serpa Pinto) in Tomar and you may have already seen a few pictures of this same street, in this case they show us different situations. The first photo was shot near Cafe Paraiso which is one of the oldest coffee shops in Tomar. The second photo was taken during some cultural events in Tomar and it’s a stall belonging to a lady selling roasted chestnuts, which is very popular in Portugal. Finally the third photo, shot during the Festival of Human Statues, represents a photographer from the early 20th Century and it was a tribute to the photographer of the old City of Tomar called Silva Magalhães.

This was a busy day at Rua Serpa Pinto (Corredoura) in the City of Tomar. As I mentioned previously, this street, despite its official name is more often called Corredoura. Anyway this was a weekend and it was a day of festivities, possibly related to the 19th Century Markets, though I’m not absolutely sure of that. However I know for sure that it was a day where people went out to enjoy a cultural event at Praça da República (Republic Square) in Tomar. Notice the clouds formation in the skies of Tomar. Judging by the designs I think it is a mix of clouds and chemtrails, which by the way are a bit controversial as nobody seems to know what they are for.

Another perspective of Corredoura or Rua Serpa Pinto in the City of Tomar in Portugal, near the old bridge.
I’m not sure if other cities and towns in Portugal use the name “Corredoura” for one of its streets, but in this case, Corredoura, whose real name is Rua Serpa Pinto, has been used for so long that many people seem to have forgotten the official name of the street. Anyway here you can see three photos of Corredoura (Rua Serpa Pinto), two of them shot in a sunny day and one in a cloudy day. In September and October 2010 I used ro walk this street almost everyday to have coffee in one of its coffee shops. Corredoura which is still considered the main street of the City of Tomar in Portugal, starts at the end of the old bridge, coming from Rua Marquês de Pombal and ends at Republic Square (Praça da República).
